Discipline at ECS is an act of love modeled on Christ’s dealing with his disciples, not as a punishment.  God loves us enough to discipline us (see Psalm 94:12, Proverbs 3:11-12, Hebrews 12:6, Hebrews 10-11)We who are placed in authority over children by God and parents follow the advice found in Proverbs 13:24 and Proverbs 23:23, realizing that we will be called into account for our discipline (Hebrews 13:7) and recognizing the importance of the task.  We expect students who attend ECS to follow the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37) to love God with all their heart and to love others as themselves.

Specific Expectations for Students:

  • To love and respect God and His creation.

For this reason we seek:

  • To structure classroom learning in such a way that teaches and provides opportunity to practice discipleship,

  • To model responsive, responsible discipleship for children,

  • To establish wise expectations and limits that encourage respect for God, his creation including other students, teachers, learning, time, property and equipment,

  • To enforce these expectations consistently, and

  • To deal with infractions of expectations and limits in ways that respect children, that allow them to reflect on what they have done and to participate in making remedy; that uses natural consequence when possible; that insures the safety of others and the integrity of the learning situation.

Students Are Expected To Conduct Themselves In Such A Manner:

  • That allows everyone the maximum opportunity to learn.

  • That ensures the safety of all.

  • That maintains school property, equipment, and personal belongings in good condition.

  • That demonstrates respect for teachers, staff and fellow students.
